MONEY SMART

This topic might make some people real mad.  The way this economy is today and bill payment is kind of hard, and to top it all off, if one is unemployed for a spell and the credit score plummets, and right when one seemingly sees some light of day with a new job, they tell you your credit score is too low, and you are turned down for the job.

IS IT FARE ?

Speaking objectively, one would think it was smart money, not to hire someone whom might steel from them, or exploit someones personal info for dishonest gain, however just because one has good credit, does not mean that they are not dishonest.  Maybe that is how they kept good credit.  When the going got tough, they just stole what they needed to keep paying bills and to maintain their credit status.

How to land a job with bad credit!

Many states are pulling away from using credit checks to determine or to decide if to hire someone.  To some it is just a formality at the end of the application process.  Tip.  Try not to target jobs that require one to have fiduciary responsibilities if ones credit score is kind of low. Do research to find out what is looked at in your state regarding hiring.  There is no real connection to bad credit and criminal  activity or dishonesty.

"It's not clear why employers do this, Demos points out, because “there is no proven link between personal credit reports and criminal behavior or performance of a specific job.”
Its research quotes a spokesperson for TransUnion who said in 2010: “We don’t have any research to show any statistical correlation between what’s in somebody’s credit report and their job performance or their likelihood to commit fraud.”
That's why many states have been pushing back on the practice. According to ClearPoint Credit Counseling Solutions, 10 states (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont and Washington) have passed legislation restricting the use of credit checks in making hiring decisions, and efforts are afoot in several major cities to do the same."...more
To me, it is just like the halo effect that companies use to hire or promote people because of attractiveness, thinking that all attractive and beautiful people are not dishonest or are incapable of committing a criminal act.  However, who every has the gold makes the rules.
